The legendary “8 Mile: Music From And Inspired By The Motion Picture” just hit a new milestone of 2.4 billion streams.

This is not a surprise. The soundtrack racked up another 100 million streams in just two months, proving it’s still a heavyweight in the streaming game. Naturally, it features some biggest names in the game. You can find there Eminem and rappers from his camps, such as 50 Cent, D12, and Obie Trice, along with giants such as Nas, Rakim, and Jay Z. But let’s be real, Slim Shady himself deserves most of the credit. “Lose Yourself”, the Oscar-winning anthem, holds the crown with over 2.1 billion streams on its own. No other track on the project comes close to that number, but that doesn’t diminish the album’s magic.

“8 Mile: Music from and Inspired by the Motion Picture” is more than just a soundtrack, it’s a time machine. It throws you back to the early 2000s hip-hop scene, capturing the raw energy and fierce competition that defined the era. This is not nostalgia, though – these tracks still go hard today.

And they went hard back then, propelling “8 Mile” to No.1 debut on the Billboard 200, with over 700,000 copies sold in the first week. It kept the momentum going, selling another half a million copies in week two. By the end of 2002, it was the fifth best-selling album in the US. Certified 6x Platinum in the States, it’s estimated to have sold over 10 million copies worldwide.

So, the next time you need a dose of pure, unadulterated hip hop, throw on the “8 Mile” soundtrack.

What’s your favourite track on the album besides the obvious? Let us know in the comments below!

Eminem’s “Fortnite Radio” compilation vinyl has debuted strong, landing on two Billboard charts.

The record was released as part of the Eminem x Fortnite Capsule to mark his collaboration with Epic Games in December 2023. Marshall took over the Fortnite in-game radio ahead of his virtual concert and later released those on a specially designed vinyl record. The tracklist consists of 10 songs:

1. Berzerk
2. Godzilla
3. Higher
4. Lighters
5. Not Afraid
6. Phenomenal
7. Survival
8. The Monster
9. Venom
10. Lucky You

It has been available for pre-order for months, but now actual sales have started and can be counted towards the chart performance. And suddenly, what is essentially a merchandise item priced at $35 per press has sold enough to chart at respectable positions.

Having sold 3,705 copies, the “Fortnite Radio” compilation debuted this week at No.8 on Billboard’s Top Vinyl Albums chart and No.19 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart.

Imagine the state the music business is in now if a collector’s item from a star makes it to the Top 10. And now, imagine what numbers Eminem’s new album will make, with or without promo. Actually, you don’t even have to imagine. Em’s previous album, “Music to Be Murdered By”, which he dropped without warning in the middle of winter, debuted at No.1 on the Billboard 200, selling 279,000 album-equivalent units in its first week.

So, what do you think about this chart entry and the prospects of Em’s upcoming release? Did you grab a copy of “Fortnite Radio” on vinyl? Let us know in the comments below!

Weeks go by, but Eminem retains his top position on the national YouTube chart.

Reporting on the United Kingdom YouTube Weekly Top Artists could have been the most boring thing if it hadn’t been so satisfying. Marshall is predictably doing very well in the third-biggest music market in the world.

Em finished the previous week with 4,103,861 views gathered in seven days. Just under 200,000 views separate him from the first place, occupied by Taylor Swift, who has gained 4,271,505 views. Meanwhile, the gap between him and Ed Sheeran, sitting at No.3, equals almost a million.

Ed Sheeran was briefly displaced from his position in the Top 3 by Ariana Grande, who just dropped her new album. She has never gone high enough to disturb Marshall.

Eminem’s confident dominance continues for months and months and months. He remains by far the most viewed rap artist in Britain and, as we see, the second most popular artist across all genres.

New album rumours are swirling, finally supported by solid confirmations from the Shady camp. One question is burning brighter than a Parental Advisory sticker: when is Eminem dropping the next masterpiece?

We are just humans and don’t have a confirmed date yet, but let’s have a look at what we can gather from open sources.

First, Dr. Dre spilled the beans – a new Em album is coming this year, 2024. Then Mr. Porter chimed in, saying it’s coming “soon”. Now, “soon” in Shady’s world could be anything from next week to after hibernation season for grizzly bears. At the moment, Marshall is on the announced hiatus. It has been 1531 days since the unexpected drop of “Music to Be Murdered By”. He took longer between albums only after “Encore”. His official hiatus lasted 1645 days. And this is one record we don’t want Eminem to break. But every day without an announced album release date takes us dangerously close to a new milestone.

Lest we forget, if made properly, an album rollout takes time. Remember “Not Afraid”? That monster single dropped almost two months before “Recovery” took over the charts. If Shady Records follows the traditional path, we will see singles drop first, way ahead of the complete project.

At the same time, we all know that Em is not down with the pop star release game. He crafts albums like a diamond cutter – meticulous, precise, ready to slice through the competition.

What does the previous experience say? So far, three out of 11 Marshall’s major label studio albums were released in May. Three in winter, two in November, one in June, and one in August (but it was a surprise drop that didn’t follow any patterns). So, the possibility of a May release looks high. April can be cautiously ruled out — Kanye is expected to drop a new volume of his “Vultures” saga on the first weekend of April. Then Taylor Swift follows on the 19th, reliably blocking everything with her blanket rollout.

All things considered, when can we expect the lyrical onslaught?

The time between April and June seems the most favourable. This prime window aligns with past drops and lets Eminem cook up a summer scorcher.
July-August still remains a possibility, but the suspense might get too drawn out to sustain the general public interest.
Anything after that feels like a long shot, but stranger things have happened before (see: Kamikaze dropping out of nowhere).

The wait is real but trust the process. When Em unleashes this new album, it’s going to be a lyrical Molotov cocktail, exploding onto the scene and setting the whole rap game on fire, as always.

Shady’s back. And when he drops, it will be like nothing you’ve ever heard before.

What do you think? Any theories on the release date? Share your thoughts in the comments below!

While Benzino might be trying to stir the pot, it feels more like a weak attempt to stay relevant than a genuine threat.

Watch it now, then check out Eminem’s reaction after watching Benzino’s music video.

Here’s the thing: Benzino filming this video in Detroit, Eminem’s stomping ground, reeks of desperation. It’s a transparent attempt to grab attention by provoking Slim Shady on his home turf. The real question is: will Em even acknowledge it? Our guess is he’ll be too busy laughing (or maybe cringing) to waste any bars on this.

This is how we imagine Eminem would react to Benzino’s latest creation:

Philadelphia rapper Cassidy has stepped in to counter the rumours that he ghostwrote Benzino’s latest diss track.

In a snippet of a new song posted on Instagram, Cassidy directly addresses the speculation: “I ain’t ghostwrite Benzino diss; that’s bogus.” This clears his name in the controversy.

The plot thickens with Cassidy’s follow-up line: “In the past, I ghostwrote for the writer that ghostwrote it”. This cryptic message suggests Cassidy might know who the actual ghostwriter is but keeps their identity a secret.

Cassidy was one of the runner-ups for the unhappy position of being Benzino’s ghostwriter as soon as it became obvious that Zino’s pen had never produced anything even close to the quality of “Rap Elvis”, the latest track he claims to be his.

Benzino previously denied using a ghostwriter on Instagram Live, stating, “This is hip hop, bro. I don’t wanna hear that ghostwriter shit. I wrote that shit”. But very few believed him. And even fewer after his ghostwriters tried to sell the original tape to a higher bidder.

The Benzino’s feud with Eminem continues to be a source of entertainment (or annoyance, depending on your perspective). Cassidy’s denial adds a layer of intrigue, leaving fans wondering who the real ghostwriter might be. Stay tuned to see if this saga takes any further unexpected turns.

An article with an intriguing headline: “BEST IN THE WEST: STEVE BERMAN. High time for another Eminem skit”, lifted Eminem fans’ hopes high and then left them with nothing.

Hits Daily Double, an industry sheet that often feeds insider information to the eager audience, pulled a trick on rap heads with a carefully crafted headline. A reference to previous collaborations with Eminem (Berman appeared in four skits on four albums, playing an angry record label executive), a hint to some high time approaching… Put it all into the “Rumour Mill”, and so many hopefuls will open an article to learn what it is about. And there that was, word by word:

“Newly tapped as vice chairman of Interscope Capitol Labels Group, the estimable, consummately menschy Steve Berman has brought his branding wizardry and state-of-the-art lever-pulling to huge projects by Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish and many more, and the latest chapter of his exemplary career finds his brief getting significantly bigger. As just one example of his amazing reach, Berm’s strong relationships with the NFL, Dre, Eminem and Snoop, among others, were integral to the Super Bowl hip-hop extravaganza. Somehow the man, who’s been a part of Interscope almost since its inception, has even managed to withstand decades of irritation from us”.

Media Playing With Eminem Fans’ Expectations

Media Playing With Eminem Fans’ Expectations

Clearly, the headline is designed to grab attention, specifically from those eagerly awaiting a new Eminem album, recently announced by Dr. Dre. It throws out buzzwords like “Eminem” and “high time” to pique reader interest.

Still, the article itself offers no new information about a potential Eminem album. It focuses on Steve Berman’s career achievements and his connections within the industry. Hits Daily Double might have a history of using playful headlines to stir the pot. They might be aware of the intense fan anticipation surrounding Eminem and are using this knowledge to generate clicks.

There’s a slim chance that Hits Daily Double might be subtly hinting at something bigger. Perhaps they have inside information about an upcoming Eminem skit or project involving Steve Berman but are keeping the details under wraps.

While the headline might be frustrating for fans hoping for Eminem news, it’s most likely just a bit of industry fun. However, it’s always good to keep an eye out for future developments, especially with Steve Berman’s strong ties to Eminem’s label.

Joyner Lucas recently sat down with The Breakfast Club for a wide-ranging interview, discussing his new album, influences, and relationship with Eminem.

Rather early in the interview, Joyner acknowledges that while he might not be mentioned as frequently as Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole in mainstream hip hop conversations, he feels validated by the recognition he receives from top-tier artists, like, let’s say, Eminem himself:

I’m in those conversations when you are talking to people like Marshall, when you are talking to Eminem. He always mentions me. He puts me right next to them. He always talks about it and even in the records he’ll be saying it. Sometimes, he throws my name first. Joyner, Cole, Kendrick. He definitely acknowledges that, and in my mind, he’s considered one of the greatest, if not the greatest. So, if that guy says those things, then I guess that stands for something.

Later, Joyner sheds light on Eminem’s guarded persona. He describes an initial attempt to connect with Eminem on a deeper level, only to be met with a certain aloofness. Through his own experiences with newfound fame, Joyner comes to understand Eminem’s need for privacy:

It made me realise why niggas like Marshall move a certain way. You could probably hop on the phone with Barack [Obama] quicker than you can hop on the phone with Marshall. He is calling you from the line where his manager’s assistant is calling you from 1-800 number, and then it’s elevator music and “Please hold, Marshall’s coming to the phone”. You can’t have his number, nobody has his number. You can’t talk to him. It’s like hopping on the phone with the president. And I always wondered why this nigga moves like that. I had a conversation with him on the shoot of the “Lucky You”, and I was in his trailer, and I’m like, “any time you wanna talk, any time you wanna build on this music, you can hit me. We can talk”. He was like, “Yeah, yeah”, and I could tell he was really standoffish. I asked Royce, “Yo, why is he like that?” And he was like, “Man, that nigga’s been through a lot of shit. He’s really closed off from people”. And I’m like, damn! And I never understood it. And when I started experiencing this shit myself, I got it instantly. I’m like, this is why this motherfucker don’t want new friends. And I get it, 100%.

Charlamagne Tha God suggests Eminem’s era as the “biggest star in the world” is over. Joyner vehemently disagrees. He points out that despite the challenges of fame, Eminem’s status as a rap god persists:

He still is. He’s gotta drop a fucking album, and he still can’t be outside. He just can’t walk in the streets of New York. He’s a big deal to this day. He moves like that for a reason. You can probably get Jay-Z be texting niggas and shit. Some niggas don’t know how to handle trauma and all that shit. But I’m starting to get in the space now where it’s like I understand why this industry niggas move. When I came to the game, I was like, “these niggas are weird”. But now I see why niggas are weird.

Now Joyner sees things from a different lens. He recognises the impact of fame, pressure, and past trauma on artists, leading them to develop coping mechanisms that might seem odd to outsiders.

This interview offers a glimpse into Joyner Lucas’ growth as an artist and a human being. His newfound empathy for the challenges his peers face adds a layer of depth to his understanding of the music industry. Fans can also expect more details about his new album, “Not Now I’m Busy”, likely influenced by the experiences and perspectives he shared in the interview.
