Eminem and Gwen Stefani Turn the Volume Up On ‘Southpaw’ Cut ‘Kings Never Die’

An odd pairing that never quite comes together.

Gwen Stefani and Eminem have both been working on their own new music, but now they’ve united on a cut from the soundtrack for the upcoming boxing movie Southpaw called “Kings Never Die.” It’s typical post-’00s Em: powerful, aggressive rhyming paired with guitar-laden melodies. He’s in fine form, and the No Doubt singer’s chorus is equal parts soaringly anthemic and quietly, introspectively evocative — though the song never gets too far past being a lukewarm cast-off.
