Eminem’s 2013 included a new album, The Marshall Mathers LP 2, a project that allowed the Detroit, Michigan rapper to return to the spotlight. Eminem revisited his best-selling album to date by crafting a sequel, The Marshall Mathers LP 2. As soon as the project was announced, anticipation for the project grew for many. “For the most part I just felt like it might be fun to just revisit that [The Marshall Mathers LP],” Eminem said following the project’s release in an interview with BBC Radio 1. “Just the overall vibe of that album. Just because it kinda started to go there early on a little bit in the recording process…The tones of the records kinda were heading towards that way. And once I got—figured out where—what direction it should go in, kinda started gearing everything that way.”

Will Smith Reportedly Told Eminem, “You’ll Either Be The Biggest Flop, Or The Biggest Thing We’ve Ever Seen”
In an interview with Montreality, DJ Jazzy Jeff spoke about Will Smith meeting Eminem. According to Jazzy Jeff, Will Smith heard an Eminem selection and gave him feedback in the late 1990s. “Will listened to [Eminem’s song], and Will looked at him and said, ‘You’re either gonna be the biggest flop in Hip Hop, or you’re gonna be the biggest thing that we’ve ever seen in Hip Hop,” Jazzy Jeff said. “And [Eminem] never forgot that.”

Casual Disses Eminem Over “Rap God”
Eminem’s “Rap God” sparked Casual to respond with “#RapGod.” “Your whole career you on some devilish shit,” Casual, a founding member of the Hieroglyphics collective, raps on the track. “So if I let you claim Rap God, heaven will split.” The selection may have been a diss track, but Casual said he has much respect for the Detroit rapper. “Eminem is remarkable,” Casual said. “No one is trying to take anything from him, lyrically. It ain’t even about that. That’s not the circumstance. Eminem has done what he’s done in Hip Hop. That’s untouchable.”
